Koodeh - Singer, Songerwriter, Composer, Producer

Wilburn Lawrence Henry “Koodeh” was born and raised in Jamaica and started composing songs at the age of twelve. During his school years he was always involved in the performing arts at school and church and his community. He attended the Breadnut Hill Primary School in the district of Cole Gate, in the parish of St. Ann, just a few kilometers from Ocho Rios. During his school years he also attended the Cockburn Pen primary in Kingston, Ocho rios High, Knockalva and the Police Academy in Port Royal.

 

After spending four years as a Police Constable he resigned the police force to fulfill his dream as a singer songwriter. Throughout the 80’s he worked and performed with groups such as The Chanting Chanters,  Ekklus and Jabari & Ekethie. In 1989 his entry “Fama Man” was among the ten finalists in the Jamaica Popular Song Contest.

He performed island wide with popular Jamaican artist and bands such as “Fab Five” the world’s most versatile band, Eric Donaldson, Lovindeer, Roy Rayan, Half Pint and Unique Vision just to name a few.

 

In 1991 Wilburn migrated to Canada and right away entered the Jones & Jones Talent Contest and was a finalist.

During the early to mid 90’s he performed around the GTA area with a group he formed called Hot & Dangerous.

The group released one single in Jamaica called ‘Light My Fire”.  After the group parted Koodeh has since been working as a solo artist focusing mostly on composing and studio work.
